After a brief respite for the holidays, Gabriel Elmore (JOHN) is absolutely exhilarated to be returning to the InterAct family for The Last Yiddish Speaker. This play has been an excellent challenge.
With an MFA from Temple University, and a truly reprehensible habit for overwriting his artist biographies, Gabriel has lately also been pursuing analog photography and screenwriting. He enjoys a passion for classical work and its ability to address the problems that face our world today. As a result, he spends his free time exploring the intricacies of lesser known Elizabethan drama.
Recent work includes Peter in Peter & The Star Catcher (DTC), Charles Lomax & Snobby Price in Major Barbara (Quintessence), Valet in No Exit (Quintessence), Captain in Man of La Mancha (DTC), and Neil in THIS BITTER EARTH (InterAct).
Dan Hodge is proud to be returning to InterAct where he has been seen in Settlements, Dogs of Rwanda, The Three Christs of Manhattan, The Exit Interview, Silverhill and House/Divided. In the Philadelphia area, Dan has worked with the Walnut Street, Theatre Exile, Delaware Theatre, 1812 Productions, Bristol Riverside, the Pennsylvania Shakespeare Festival, Curio and Hedgerow Theatre. A cofounder of the Philadelphia Artists’ Collective he appeared in Changes of Heart, Creditors, Fair Maid of the West, his one-man The Rape of Lucrece, and directed their productions of The Duchess of Malfi and Timon of Athens, and Mary Stuart. Dan holds his MFA in Acting from the USD/Old Globe, San Diego.
Stephanie Satie, (Aunt Chava, she/her) is delighted to be onstage at Interact in this powerful play. She is an actor and playwright, and author of last season’s The Last Parade. Stephanie has performed on and off-Broadway, in regional theatres, and internationally, first, as a dancer, then as an actor in roles ranging from those of Shakespeare to Neil Simon to Ionesco and Berkoff. With grants from the Los Angeles Dept of Cultural Affairs, she created three critically acclaimed solo plays - Refugees, published by Samuel French, Coming to America, and the multiple award-winning Silent Witnesses. On TV she recurred in “The Wonder Years” as Ida Pfeiffer and in “The Practice,” “Beverly Hills 90210,” and many soaps and courtroom dramas. She played another Chava in the National tour of Fiddler on the Roof in Philadelphia in the last century. During the pandemic, she wrote and co-starred in a short film In the Zoom Room, produced by Women in the Arts and Media Coalition. She has endless faith in the power of theatre to enlarge our view of the world.

National New Play Network (NNPN) is an alliance of professional theaters that collaborate in innovative ways to develop, produce, and extend the life of new plays. NNPN envisions a robust, equitable, and inclusive new play ecology that reflects a broad range of aesthetics, and strives to pioneer, implement, and disseminate ideas and programs that revolutionize the way theaters and audiences encounter new work. Since its founding in 1998, National New Play Network has grown into a vital force for new work in the American theater, serving over 130 Member Theaters as well as artists and audiences around the world.
NNPN’s National Showcase of New Plays, initially presented in 2002, was the Network’s first program aimed at creating a new play pipeline that spanned the US. In 2004, NNPN launched the pilot of what has become its paradigm-shifting Rolling World Premiere program. As NNPN’s membership, funding, and programmatic offerings have grown, innovations including season-long Residencies within Member Theaters for rising administrative leaders, two annual Commissions, and a dedicated fund for theater-makers working to develop new plays across institutions emerged. The New Play Exchange®, launched in 2015, is the world’s largest online library of scripts by living writers, and features unprecedented opportunities for direct connection among playwrights, readers, and producers.
NNPN’s current Strategic Plan centers its commitment to Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion. The Network’s dedication to new plays remains the center of its work, but the future NNPN envisions is one that is robust, inclusive, and equitable for all theater-makers and audience members. nnpn.org | newplayexchange.org
