Lobby Installation!
Inspired by our 35th Anniversary Season of bringing world-premieres to Philadelphia, we want to paint a broad comparative historical picture by uplifting the foreign and domestic settings of our season’s plays. This display allows for us to see the each of our play’s worlds and how they intersect with each other, InterAct and your personal histories.
As we reach the end of our season, you can see how the histories of our current play, AMERICAN FAST, interacts with its season-predecessors (DEATH OF A DRIVER, THE LAST PARADE and PAY NO WORSHIP), and the 35 year-history of InterAct Theatre Company.
In the first image, depicts the lobby with the InterAct and DEATH OF A DRIVE timelines hung. Because the play, DEATH OF A DRIVER takes place in Kenya from 2002 - 2022, its timeline spans a reach of 55 years to 1967 parallel the 20 years that pass during the play’s action.
The middle image has the InterAct, DoaD, and THE LAST PARADE timelines on display. Just as the DoaD longer timeline reflect the script, so does the timeline of THE LAST PARADE, which is set over the course of two years. Therefore, the timeline is 37 years.
In the next image, the InterAct, DoaD, tLP, and PAY NO WORSHIP timelines are installed. Though this play is contemporary, featuring Dunkin Donuts, the action of the play takes place in 2017 and the history begins in 1982.
In the last image, the InterAct and all the season's plays. As AMERICAN FAST takes place "today, InterAct and this play’s timelines span the same years: 1988 - 2023.

About Philadelphia:
Philadelphia served as the capital of the United States from 1790.
As of 2022, the estimated population is 1.58 million, the sixth largest city of the United States.
Originally settled by Native American Tribes, namely Lenape, around 8,000 B.C.
About Kisumu:
Is a political, commercial, industrial, and transportation centre of Kenya.
Population of 350 thousand people, as the third largest city of Kenya.
Established 1901, Kisumu is one of the most prominent urban centers in the pre-colonial, post-colonial, and modern eras.
